A slow PC is always a big headache for all of us, it not only affects our efficiency badly but also may hinder sometime from urgent work to complete. If a PC is slow this means we are not able to use something we have paid for. I have experienced that in the beginning no PC can be slow even if we are not using best hardware and software specifications, but as time passes it gets slower by and by and many times starts freezing also. This means a slow PC case does not happen all of sudden but there are many factors they cause a PC slow. Let's discusses the main factors that may be responsible for a slow PC.

1. Many programs installed in the PC- This is one of the most prominent reasons behind the slow PC, if you have installed excessive programs in the PC beyond the normal capacity of your HDD, or RAM it will certainly not perform as it should be.

Excessive storage of temporary files, dump storage etc- Clean your PC regularly or at least once in week for these unnecessary and unwanted items/files they are always store inside the PC and can cause slower down of a PC.

Virus infection- We all use Internet today and more or less get affected by various kinds if viruses spreading online. Sometime these viruses not only slower down a PC but also may stop computer's functionality completely. To avoid this situation you may use a good antivirus program and can also use the Internet services in safe and secure mode. Do not browse any suspicious link if you are not sure about any such link.

Invasive programs- Some program may take CPU usage to its maximum level and resulting in other processes in the PC stop automatically.

Spyware and malware program- Like virus these program may also affect PC's normal functionality; they are greater in number always and occupy a big memory part. A good anti malware or anti spyware program can prevent these infections to a certain extent. A safer browsing a also an important prevention regarding these infections.

Heavy startup- Now a days it is observed that every software vendor follows a common practice to load his program while windows starts. If many programs are installed in windows starup they take long time to start and it also causes slow PC and especially slow boot process. I would suggest uncheck all the unnecessary items except wireless or any other you feel necessary while loading windows.

Processes/Services running in background of windows- There are many services that run in background of an operating system and they also take huge amount of memory and CPU usage. It is not visible clearly but when we browse task manager we can view it easily. These services can be terminated if they are not needed when you perform any particular task or run any particular application software.

Hardware issues- A hardware failure or low hardware specification is also very important factor behind a slow and poor performance of a PC. Also there is no alternate of a poor or bad hardware device at all. If you using 256 MB RAM and trying to run Vista or windows 7 in it, it is not possible as this is beyond its specification. With a good hardware specification the slow PC issue can be fixed.

 Uninstalled program - Sometime when we uninstall any application from the PC it does not get remove completely and reside inside windows and can also cause a PC slow. Thus use a good uninstaller to avoid this situation.

. Very heavy anti virus program- Sometime a heavy antivirus program also causes a PC slow. It always checks for virus while you are using Internet or doing any activity performing any task in the PC. Many processes are run during this check and they occupy huge memory and CPU time.
